Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
This study analyzes why the government of Taiwan should engage in smart public diplomacy with the Kingdom of Thailand. It also examines Taiwan’s public policy across the two dimensions of culture and people-to-people engagement for the purpose of sustainable and constructive relations. This is supported by highlighting Taiwan’s public diplomacy efforts toward Thailand, concluding that direct engagement with Taipei has significantly enhanced Bangkok’s recognition of the island. Specifically, Thai students and alumni, Thai migrant workers, and marriages between Taiwanese and Thai citizens are crucial in disseminating a positive image of Taiwan within Thailand. By aligning Taiwan’s strengths with Thailand’s needs, both nations can create mutually beneficial opportunities and foster a sustainable, constructive relationship through Taiwan’s innovative approach to public diplomacy. Such a strategy could provide substantial advantages for both countries.
