Vollständiger Abstract

Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?

Diabetes burnout is an emerging psychosocial phenomenon characterized by emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion associated with the continuous demands of diabetes management, adversely affecting self-care and wellbeing. This study aimed to develop a theoretical reflection on how the principles of the Tidal Model, interpreted through the lens of holistic nursing, may inform nursing care for individuals experiencing diabetes burnout. This theoretical reflection was based on an analytical and interpretive approach using The Tidal Model: A Guide for Mental Health Professionals, integrated with the scientific literature on diabetes burnout and holistic nursing. The analysis was organized into four thematic sections: understanding diabetes burnout, the foundations of the Tidal Model, its application in nursing practice, and a holistic interpretation of diabetes burnout. The reflection suggests that diabetes burnout is a multidimensional experience capable of disrupting healing processes and that relational and narrative mechanisms of the Tidal Model may promote meaning reconstruction and re-engagement in care. An original conceptual model and theoretical propositions were developed to clarify these mechanisms. This study advances holistic nursing knowledge by integrating person-centered care, the therapeutic relationship, and healing processes in the context of diabetes burnout.
