Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
Despite the clinical relevance of sciatic nerve injuries, there is a lack of consolidated evidence on the effectiveness of peripheral nerve stimulation. The review included seven original studies published last 10 years, selected according to PRISMA guidelines, focusing on pain relief (assessed via VAS) and functional recovery (evaluated using MRC, ODI, and other scales). The results demonstrated a significant reduction in pain intensity (43–86%) in stimulation groups compared to controls. However, data on muscle strength recovery were limited, with most studies relying on indirect measures or short-term follow-ups. The heterogeneity in study designs precluded a meta-analysis. The findings highlight the need for randomized controlled trials comparing stimulation with neurolysis and assessing long-term outcomes to establish standardized protocols for sciatic nerve stimulation.
