INCLUSION AND JOB RETENTION OF PEOPLE WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER: AN ANALYSIS OF PUBLIC POLICIES AND AFFIRMATIVE ACTIONS IN MATO GROSSO DO SUL

This article analyzes the inclusion and job retention of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), focusing on public policies and affirmative actions existing in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, particularly in the municipality of Três Lagoas. The research problem is to determine whether the existing legal framework and public policies are sufficient to ensure not only the entry, but also the retention and professional development of people with ASD in the labor market. The research is bibliographic and documentary, based on the analysis of constitutional, federal, state, and municipal legislation, as well as institutional documents and works related to human rights, public policies, inclusion, and diversity. The hypothetical-deductive method is used, starting from a general analysis of the rights of people with disabilities and proceeding to a specific investigation of the inclusion of people with ASD in the labor market in Mato Grosso do Sul. The study found that there is a relevant legal framework for protection, particularly the 1988 Federal Constitution, Law No. 12,764/2012, and the Brazilian Inclusion Law, which guarantee equality, non-discrimination, accessibility, reasonable accommodation, and the right to work. However, limitations remain regarding the existence and effectiveness of policies specifically aimed at job retention, professional development, and adaptation of work environments to the particular needs of people with ASD. It concludes that public policies and affirmative actions need to be strengthened so that existing legal protection can be effectively implemented in the workplace.
