IMPACT OF CLOWN THERAPY ON THE HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH: PERCEPTION OF THE MULTIPROFESSIONAL TEAM

Pediatric hospitalization places the patient in a new environment, while removing the child from his routine while facing illness. This situation can be stressful for patients, who become part of a world far from the playfulness with which childhood tends to manifest itself. In addition, the hospital environment also has a stressful effect on health professionals, since the demands and emotional load that accompany the work can generate an overload of the care team. The National Humanization Policy (NHP), created in 2003 by the Ministry of health, has among its guidelines the welcoming, ambience and appreciation of workers. Faced with this reality, clown therapy, through playfulness, humor and dialogue, finds an environment that can benefit from this humanization strategy, which dialogues with the NHP. In order to evaluate the impact of clown therapy in the hospital environment and on occupational health, from the perspective of professionals, this study was carried out. It is a descriptive, cross-sectional quantitative approach, involving N=40 healthcare professionals at two public hospitals. The results showed a 100% improvement in social interaction, 100% relief from burnout, a 95% reduction in stress, and a 100% recommendation rate for the intervention. It can therefore be concluded that clown therapy is relevant as an integrative and humanizing practice within the SUS.
