The review provides statistical data on the prevalence of psychiatric disorders of various etiologies in elderly patients. The variants of clinical comorbidity are described and recommendations for safe pharmacotherapy are given. Special attention is paid to the original antipsychotic tiaprid (Tiapridal®, Sotex), which is used to correct behavioral disorders in mental disorders and organic lesions of the central nervous system. Clinical targets for tiaprid are aggression, irritability, and psychomotor agitation. The therapeutic efficacy of tiaprid in relieving these symptoms is combined with a favorable safety profile, which is an advantage when used in elderly patients.
