This community service activity aims to optimize student mentoring in participating in academic competitions through public speaking training for students of the Government Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Mulawarman. The program was motivated by the low confidence and communication skills of students in speaking before public audiences, which affected their participation and achievement in academic competitions. The method used in this activity consisted of observation, questionnaire distribution through Google Forms, workshops, direct practice, intensive mentoring, and evaluation. The implementation was carried out from October to November 2024 and involved active students interested in academic competitions such as debates, esais, and scientific presentations. The results showed that most students considered their public speaking abilities to be at a moderate level and had never participated in similar training before. After participating in the training and mentoring process, students demonstrated increased confidence, communication skills, and readiness to participate in competitions. The program also produced significant achievements, including second place in a national debate competition and second place in a national esai competition. Overall, this activity contributed positively to strengthening students’ soft skills, academic competitiveness, and communication capacities in the field of government studies.
