A Study to Compare the Effectiveness of DFMC Chart and Cardiff Count-Ten Chart in Relation to Compliance, Fetal Attachment, and Satisfaction of Mother on Self-assessment of Fetal Well-being among Antenatal Mothers Attending Outpatient Department of Selected Hospital of Mullana, Ambala, Haryana

Objectives: To compare the effectiveness of the Daily Fetal Movement Count (DFMC) and Cardiff Count-Ten-Chart (CCTC) in terms of maternal compliance, satisfaction, and maternal–fetal attachment among antenatal mothers. Methodology: A quasi-experimental, post-test only design was conducted among 64 purposively selected antenatal mothers (31 in DFMC and 33 in CCTC groups) at a at four distinct antenatal care settings (a tertiary hospital, a community health center, and two civil hospitals) in Ambala, Haryana. Participants were randomly allocated to groups. Data were collected using a compliance checklist, the Maternal Fetal Attachment Scale, and the Maternal Satisfaction Scale. Statistical analysis was performed using t -test, Chi-square, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation. Results: Maternal compliance (mean 8.77 ± 1.33) and satisfaction (mean 87.23 ± 6.18) were significantly higher in the DFMC group compared to the CCTC group ( P < 0.001). No significant difference was observed in maternal–fetal attachment between the two groups ( P > 0.05). Although compliance and satisfaction showed a positive trend, the correlation was not statistically significant. Conclusion: DFMC was found to be more effective than CCTC, demonstrating higher maternal compliance and satisfaction, whereas both methods exhibit comparable levels of maternal–fetal attachment. DFMC may be suggested for routine antenatal education and nursing practice.
