Vollständiger Abstract
Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
Neonatal sepsis is a major cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality, with increasing challenges posed by multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens. This case report presents a term neonate diagnosed with early-onset sepsis caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae, resistant to multiple antibiotics. Despite timely empirical therapy, the neonate’s condition deteriorated until culture-guided treatment with meropenem and colistin was initiated. The report elaborates on the crucial nursing interventions such as early sepsis recognition, strict adherence to infection control measures, and close monitoring for antibiotic toxicities. This case emphasizes the growing burden of MDR organisms in neonatal intensive care units, the imperative role of nurses in infection prevention, and the need for evidence-based antimicrobial stewardship. The discussion also focuses on strategies for strengthening infection control protocols and the psychosocial aspects of family-centered neonatal care. Overall, it highlights the critical responsibilities and challenges faced by neonatal nurses in managing MDR sepsis effectively and safely.
