Vollständiger Abstract
Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
This paper is an evaluation which explores the acceptability and impact of Communication and Interaction Training (CAIT) introduced to care homes in North Cumbria. The study evaluates the impact of CAIT on staff confidence in dementia care and compares two different delivery formats: modular workshops and a two-day workshop. Sixty-six care homes were invited to nominate staff for CAIT training, with 261 staff attending from 53 different care homes. Twelve modular sessions (N=104) and 17 two-day sessions (N=157) were delivered between February 2023 and October 2024. Findings suggest that CAIT was positively received in both modular and two-day workshops, but that the two-day format was preferred. Positive learning themes identified increased confidence, enhanced communication skills, and improved knowledge in dementia care with a general preference for the two-day workshops.
