Vollständiger Abstract
Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
This case study analyzes DBS Bank’s digital transformation (DT) journey to become the Best Bank in the World (BBIW). The research demonstrates how DBS successfully integrated digital strategy with business strategy through five key domains: rethinking customers, competition, data, innovation, and value. Using frameworks such as the Value Stick model and Exponential Organization theory, the study reveals how DBS achieved a 33% to 62% increase in digital customers between 2015-2023 while maintaining a 20% lower cost-to-income ratio for digital customers. The analysis is structured around five research questions addressing DBS’s DT overview, value creation, exponential organization characteristics, strategic integration, and digital maturity stages. The findings indicate that DBS progressed through five transformation stages from Foundation (2008) to Living DNA (2023), demonstrating that successful digital transformation requires sustained commitment, agile management, experimentation culture, and continuous adaptation. This manuscript provides practical insights into enterprise-scale digital transformation and offers strategic recommendations for financial institutions undertaking similar transformations.
