Abstract This study examined the impact of acquiring social values and occupational aspiration among social studies students in some selected secondary schools in Kogi State. A descriptive survey research design was employed. The population consisted of 170 social studies students. From this population, a sample size of 120 respondents was selected. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire titled Impact of Acquiring Social Values and Occupational Aspiration among Social Studies students in some selected secondary schools Questionnaire" (IASVOASSQ). The instrument was validated by two experts and a pilot study was conducted at University of Abuja, Abuja, one from Federal University Lokoja. Reliability analysis using Cronbach’s alpha yielded a coefficient of 0.89, indicating high internal consistency. Data analysis was carried out using simple percentages, frequency counts, means, and standard deviations. The findings revealed that there was no significant difference between the social values and occupational aspirations of male and female social studies students, suggesting that gender does not influence the acquisition of social values and the development of occupational aspirations among social studies students. Based on the findings, the study recommended, among other measures, that Curriculum developers and education policymakers should continue to enhance the Social Studies curriculum to further emphasize the development of social values that promote civic responsibility, equality, and societal well-being, Schools should integrate career guidance and counseling services within Social Studies programs to help students align their values with realistic and socially relevant career goals.
