Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly transformed the communication patterns and social interactions of Generation Z. On the one hand, technological advancements provide easier access to information and broader opportunities for social networking. On the other hand, they also present various moral challenges, including the spread of misinformation, cyberbullying, hate speech, and the decline of communication ethics. This article aims to analyze the concept of communication and morality from an Islamic perspective and examine their role in fostering the Islamic character of Generation Z in the digital era. This study employs a qualitative library research method by analyzing relevant literature, including the Qur’an, Hadith, books, and scholarly journal articles. The findings reveal that communication in Islam serves not only as a medium for conveying messages but also as a means of internalizing moral values through the principles of qaulan sadidan, qaulan kariman, qaulan ma‘rufan, qaulan layyinan, and qaulan balighan. Ethical communication contributes to the development of Islamic character traits such as honesty, trustworthiness, responsibility, politeness, tolerance, and empathy. Islamic education plays a strategic role in strengthening these values through role modeling, habituation, and the promotion of Islamic-based digital literacy. Therefore, the synergy between moral communication and Islamic education is essential for shaping a generation that possesses noble character, uses technology wisely, and is capable of addressing moral challenges in the digital age.
