Vollständiger Abstract
Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
The leather craft centre of Magetan Regency supplies souvenirs for the Sarangan Lake tourism area, yet most craftsmen still work with simple technology and word-of-mouth marketing. Akasia Industry, a leather belt craftsmen group in Ringinagung Village with fifteen members and eight production craftsmen, faced three priority problems: stitching that relied on household sewing machines, unstructured bookkeeping, and marketing that had not reached national and international buyers. This community service programme aimed to increase the production capacity and to widen the market reach of the partner through science and technology innovation. A participatory approach was applied in six stages: preparation, socialisation, training, technology implementation, mentoring and evaluation, and sustainability planning. The interventions covered the procurement of and training on an industrial leather sewing machine, the preparation of production standard operating procedures and quality control, mentoring on bookkeeping and cost of goods manufactured, and the development of the multilingual website akasiaindustry.com integrated with social media and marketplaces. Workshop output rose from three to five units into an average of thirty-five units per day, while the defect rate fell from 15-20 per cent to below 5 per cent. The partner now owns a fully operating industrial sewing machine, standard operating procedure documents, a simple bookkeeping system, a brand identity, and five active digital transaction channels reaching 5,761 followers on Instagram and TikTok, with the highest production content reaching 93.2 thousand views. Combining production technology with marketing digitalisation effectively strengthens the competitiveness of leather craftsmen within a sustainable tourism ecosystem.
