The Impact of Digital Health Technology on the Quality of Patient Care in Nursing: A Study on the Use of Smart Applications and Remote Monitoring Devices

Digital health technology has become a revolutionary phenomenon in the modern healthcare system, which offers a chance to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care. This paper examines how digital health technology, in this case smart applications and remote monitoring tools affect patient care in nursing at Al Karak Government Hospital, in southern Jordan. The research design used was a quantitative and descriptive-correlational research design to study 145 nurses who deal with patients and use digital health systems. Structured Likert-scale questionnaires were used to collect the data which were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression. The results showed that digital health technologies are viewed favorably on the part of nurses, in general, especially concerning the communication networks, governance, availability of devices and software, and clinical decision support. Regression analysis revealed a significant positive correlation to exist between the digital health technology adoption and the quality of patient care ( = 0.652, p < 0.001), and the digital health technology explains 42.5% of the perceived care quality (R 2 = 0.425). These findings highlight the importance of effective digital tools in improving patient security, precision and accuracy in documentation, prompt service delivery, and patient confidence and support and do not displace the human side of nursing care. Issues of employee education and the best use of technology point towards the areas of improvement. The research adds empirical knowledge regarding the advantages of digital health adoption in nursing and offers practical recommendations that healthcare administrators and policymakers can use to maximize technology application in a hospital.
