Vollständiger Abstract

Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?

The world's population is rapidly aging, and the number of age-related diseases is increasing. Researchers are focusing particularly on chronic low-grade inflammation as they strive to understand and address the complex mechanisms of aging. NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3), a key regulator of the innate immune response, initiates inflammation by recognizing pathogens and damage-related molecular patterns. Functional NLRP3 plays a role in age-related diseases. Investigating the mechanisms that regulate the NLRP3 inflammasome is important for developing treatment strategies. This review examines the role of the NLRP3 inflammasome in the onset and progression of age-related diseases. Furthermore, it aims to improve prevention and treatment strategies for certain diseases by influencing the biochemical mechanisms of the NLRP3 inflammasome. The use of NLRP3 in the treatment of age-related diseases may provide a basis for future research. In our study, a scientific publication search was conducted using the following databases: PubMed, PubMed Central, Nature Portfolio, ScienceDirect, Europe PMC, Google Scholar, EBSCOhost, ResearchGate, Scopus Web of Science (Science Citation Index Expanded - SCIE), EMBASE, and Web of Science (WOS). The aim is to contribute to the literature; our review study is not mentioned in any thesis.
