Vollständiger Abstract
Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
This research aims to develop digital interactive learning media to support English reading comprehension for international class students at the State Polytechnic of Malang, using the Design and Development Research (DDR) method combined with the ADDIE model. The study was motivated by students' difficulty in understanding academic English texts, including understanding word meanings, identifying main ideas, and locating key details. A needs analysis of 45 international students, ranging from B1 to B2 proficiency, showed that independent, interactive digital content is more useful for learning. LUMI, a free, browser-based authoring tool, enables educators to create interactive H5P-based content without technical expertise, making it well-suited for online learning in vocational higher education. The resulting materials feature quizzes, fill-in-the-blank activities, drag-and-drop tasks, and feedback-based reading exercises, designed to support reading comprehension in academic and professional contexts. The media was validated by a language expert and an IT expert, obtaining scores of 90% and 85%, respectively, both categorized as "very valid." It was then trialed with 61 international-class students, and the user satisfaction survey yielded an overall score of 90%, indicating strong reception. Among the interactive features, students rated essay activities as most useful, followed by drag-and-drop and "drag the word" activities. These findings suggest that the developed media is valid, practical, and effective in supporting students' reading comprehension learning.
