Vollständiger Abstract

Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?

This article studies the overlap of speech meaning and communicative functions in English and Uzbek from a pragmalinguistic point of view. The aim of the study is to identify the pragmatic mechanisms of the overlap phenomenon, to reveal the role of illocutionary force, implicature, presupposition, discourse context and communicative strategies in its occurrence. The study used comparative-typological, pragmalinguistic, discursive and linguocognitive analysis methods. As a result of the analysis, it was established that the overlap phenomenon is not an internal feature of a semantic unit, but a multi-stage communicative phenomenon formed as a result of the integration of pragmatic strategies. Universal and national features in the mechanisms of occurrence of overlap in English and Uzbek were identified, and a new conceptual model for pragmatic analysis was proposed. The results of the study expand the theoretical and practical foundations of studying the phenomenon of overlap in the fields of pragmalinguistics, discourse analysis, comparative linguistics, translation studies, and natural language processing.
