This study examines the formation of marriage motives among young people and their psychological influence on the stability of marital relationships and family strength. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between marriage motivation and such factors as love and emotional intimacy, mutual respect, psychological and spiritual compatibility, social status, material interests, parental and social influence, avoidance of loneliness, and the desire to continue the family lineage. The study substantiates that marriages based on conscious and stable motives contribute positively to mutual understanding between spouses, responsibility, trust, emotional support, and constructive conflict-resolution skills. At the same time, marriage motives predominantly determined by external pressure, material benefit, or situational needs may increase the risk of lower marital satisfaction, psychological contradictions, and instability in family relationships. The findings are of practical importance for improving the psychological preparation of young people for family life, developing premarital counselling practices, and organizing preventive psychological activities aimed at strengthening marital and family relationships.
