Abordagem clínica do tratamento endodôntico associado a laserterapia em paciente com comorbidades sistêmicas: relato de caso.

Endodontic treatment in elderly patients with systemic comorbidities represents a clinical challenge due to physiological changes associated with aging and health conditions such as heart diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, and history of stroke. In this context, low-level laser therapy has been used as an adjunctive resource, contributing to root canal disinfection, pain control, and tissue repair. The aim of this study was to report a clinical case of endodontic treatment associated with laser therapy in a systemically compromised elderly patient. This is a case report of an 81-year-old male patient with heart disease, chronic respiratory disease, and previous stroke, diagnosed with pulp necrosis and asymptomatic apical periodontitis in tooth 12. The treatment involved biomechanical preparation, chemical irrigation, intracanal medications, laser therapy with methylene blue, and the use of bioceramic intracanal materials. Progressive clinical and radiographic improvement of the periapical lesion was observed, as well as adequate infection control and absence of systemic complications during treatment. It was concluded that the association of laser therapy with conventional endodontic treatment showed favorable results in the clinical management of elderly patients with systemic comorbidities, contributing to tissue repair and therapeutic predictability.
