Tratamento endodôntico em incisivo superior em abscesso periapical crônico com uso de laserterapia e cimento à base de silicato de cálcio: relato de caso clínico

Endodontic treatment has as its main objective the disinfection of the root canal system and the preservation of the dental element in function. However, factors such as caries can favor the development of pulpal and periapical alterations, such as pulp necrosis and chronic periapical abscess. In this context, adjuvant therapies, such as photodynamic therapy (PDT) and the use of bioceramic biomaterials associated with calcium silicate-based cements, have been employed with the aim of enhancing disinfection and stimulating tissue repair. This study aims to report a clinical case of endodontic treatment in tooth 22, with a history of pain on mastication and diagnosis of pulp necrosis associated with a periapical lesion. The treatment was performed in three sessions, including biomechanical preparation, application of photodynamic therapy with 0.005% methylene blue and low-level laser, in addition to the use of intracanal bioceramic medication. Subsequently, obturation was performed using the single-cone technique with a calcium silicate-based cement. In the clinical and radiographic follow-up after two months, absence of signs and symptoms was observed, as well as positive regression of the periapical lesion. Concluding that the association of photodynamic therapy with bioceramic biomaterials proved to be effective as a complementary approach in endodontic treatment, contributing to the reduction of microbial load and favoring the healing process of periapical tissues.
