Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine-metabolic condition among women of reproductive age, characterized by heterogeneous manifestations that may affect gynecological, reproductive, metabolic, cardiovascular, functional, and emotional dimensions. This study aimed to analyze, in the scientific literature, the main clinical repercussions of PCOS and discuss their implications for nursing care. This is a descriptive literature review based on publications available in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Virtual Health Library (BVS), considering studies published between 2020 and 2026 in Portuguese. After identification, application of selection criteria, and reading of the studies, ten articles were included in the analysis. The findings showed associations between PCOS and cardiovascular risk, metabolic alterations, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, infertility, gestational complications, hyperandrogenism, changes in physical performance, and possible repercussions related to intestinal microbiota. Given this multiplicity of manifestations, nursing care can contribute to the identification of risk factors, health education, promotion of self-care, longitudinal follow-up, welcoming care, and coordination with the multidisciplinary team. It is concluded that care for women with PCOS should go beyond an exclusively gynecological approach, considering clinical, reproductive, emotional, and social needs and strengthening nursing practice in health promotion and complication prevention.
