Laserterapia na prevenção e tratamento de mucosite oral em pacientes oncológicos: uma revisão de literatura

Oral mucositis is frequently observed as a complication in patients undergoing antineoplastic therapies, being characterized by pain, inflammation, and ulcerations of the oral mucosa, factors that significantly compromise quality of life and may lead to the temporary or permanent interruption of oncological treatment. Low-level laser therapy has been indicated as a promising therapeutic alternative for the prevention and treatment of this condition, due to its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and regenerative properties. The present article aims to review the main scientific findings regarding the effectiveness of laser therapy in oral mucositis, with emphasis on its clinical benefits, applied protocols, and future perspectives within the field of oncology. For this purpose, an integrative literature review was conducted, including articles published between 2020 and 2025. Searches were carried out in the databases Google Scholar, PubMed, SciELO, and LILACS, and studies presenting scientific evidence on the effectiveness of laser therapy, palliative care, and complementary therapies were selected. The results obtained show that low-level laser therapy is considered an effective, safe, and accessible approach, contributing to the improvement of the clinical condition of oncological patients affected by oral mucositis, in addition to favoring the continuity of antineoplastic treatment.
