Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
The impacts of social media and the use of technology on children's mental well-being is a current and relevant concern, highlighting the benefits and potential associated risks. The objective is based on investigating in current literature what are the main scientific discussions about the impact of social networks and the use of technology on children's mental well-being. The methodological line corresponds to a bibliographic review research, which uses recent studies (2019-2024) available in the PubMed, Scielo, LILACS and MEDLine databases, using the separate descriptors "Mental Health", "Social Networking" and "Child". by the Boolean operator “AND”. Benefits were identified such as the promotion of practical, cognitive and analytical skills, access to educational resources, support for communication and social inclusion and involvement in social and environmental issues, as well as risks and negative impacts, such as increased anxiety, depression and self-esteem problems. , digital violence and physical problems such as sleep disorders and sedentary lifestyle. The need for interventions by parents, educators and public policy makers to guide the safe and positive use of digital technologies is evident.
