Vollständiger Abstract
Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
Oncology nursing is characterized by high technical and emotional complexity, involving specialized care, continuous monitoring, and frequent exposure to suffering, pain, therapeutic uncertainty, and end-of-life situations. These characteristics may contribute to the development of Burnout Syndrome and negatively affect professionals' quality of life. This study aimed to analyze the available scientific evidence on Burnout and quality of life among nursing professionals working in oncology services. This is an integrative literature review conducted through the search and analysis of scientific studies in PubMed/MEDLINE, Virtual Health Library (VHL), LILACS, BDENF, and SciELO. Terms related to Burnout Syndrome, oncology nursing, quality of life, occupational health, and occupational stress were used. The analyzed studies indicate that work overload, continuous exposure to patient suffering, emotional demands, high professional responsibility, and organizational weaknesses are associated with greater vulnerability to Burnout. Emotional exhaustion was one of the most affected dimensions. Impacts on professional satisfaction, workers' well-being, and the quality and safety of care were also identified. It is concluded that preventing Burnout in oncology nursing requires permanent institutional actions focused on mental health promotion, team strengthening, improved working conditions, continuing education, and professional appreciation.
