Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
This article analyzes workers’ health within Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS) in light of the challenges posed by the precarization of labor relations and working conditions, especially in hospital settings. It is based on the understanding that intensified workloads, insufficient human and material resources, flexible employment arrangements, and continuous exposure to occupational risks directly affect the health-disease process of health professionals. The aim of the study is to discuss working conditions in the SUS, highlighting the expressions of labor precarization, its impacts on workers’ physical and mental health, and the limitations of public policies aimed at labor protection. The analysis shows that workers’ health must be understood as a fundamental human right, requiring intersectoral actions, the strengthening of the National Policy for Workers’ Health, and greater participation of professionals in the formulation and monitoring of policies. It concludes that overcoming this scenario requires structural investments, professional valorization, protection of labor rights, and participatory management practices in order to promote decent working conditions and improve the quality of care provided to the population within the public health system.
