Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
The paper examined Contributions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Climate Change for Sustainable Development in Taraba State, Nigeria. Artificial intelligence is a contemporary technology which creates systems capable of performing complex tasks that require human intelligence, such as reasoning, learning, problem-solving, perception and decision making. Climate change is a current issue where the weather condition is becoming different from what is used to be. One research question and one hypothesis guided the study. Survey research design was the design suitable for the study since it sought human opinion on climate change for sustainable development. The population of the study was 746 lecturers in Federal Tertiary institutions in Taraba State, Nigeria. The sample of the study was 224 selected through the simple random sampling technique. Questionnaire was the instrument used for the collection of data and it was validated by three experts. The reliability index for the study was 0.82 tested through the Cronbach Alpha procedure. The data was collected by the researchers and two research assistants. Mean and Standard deviation were used to analyze data collected on the research questions while t-test was used to test the hypothesis. The study found that AI's role in climate action (SDG 13) is another area where its impact is profound, AI helps in predicting weather patterns, AI aids in assessing the impact of climate change, AI aids in optimizing the use of renewable energy sources, AI aids in developing more effective strategies for disaster risk reduction, AI helps in developing strategies for sustainable agriculture, AI assists in developing strategies for energy and sustainable Development practices. The hypothesis tested was accepted. The study recommended among others that AI as an emerging technology should be used by farmers in predicting weather condition for improved agriculture and sustainable development.
