Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Early Intervention for Psychosis: A Cost-Effectiveness Analysis

Maximilian Duckworth, Sofia Venturini, Andres Roman-Urrestarazu

Background: Early intervention for psychosis (EIP) is a multidisciplinary service that treats individuals experiencing early psychosis. Treatment often consists of pharmacotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy for psychosis (CBTp). While EIP demonstrates clinical efficacy and cost-effectiveness as a comprehensive package, the incremental contribution of its individual components remains unclear. With mental health services facing sustained funding pressures, understanding which EIP elements offer value for money …

Xue Chen, Xudong Xie, Yuanhang Li, Li Yang, Chaolin Liu, Shuhe Huang, Zhixian Liu, Mengqin Li, Yue Zhang, Zhengjian Qi

Abstract The combination of photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photothermal therapy (PTT) holds considerable promise for cancer treatment, but conventional Type II PDT is strongly limited by tumor hypoxia. Here, we designed a D-π-A-π-D BODIPY-based near-infrared aggregation-induced emission (AIE) photosensitizer, TBSN, by integrating tetraphenylethylene units and a rotatable N,N-diethylaniline moiety. Theoretical calculations identified S1 → T2 as the predominant intersystem crossing pathway and showed that the N,N-die …

Comparison of morphological and functional parameters after switching therapy from brolucizumab to faricimab in neovascular age-related macular degeneration

Agnes Boltz, Jasmin Paster, Sarah Mehany, Veronika Pia Vécsei-Marlovits

Abstract Background Brolucizumab, an anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) agent, offers extended dosing intervals in neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) but carries a rare risk of retinal vasculitis. Faricimab, a bispecific antibody targeting VEGF and angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2), maintained efficacy with dosing intervals of up to 16 weeks in the TENAYA and LUCERNE trials and carries a lower reported inflammatory risk. Patients may therefore be switched from brolucizumab to faricimab. This study …

Combining H2O2-Supplying Iron Peroxide Nanoclusters with GSH-Depleting Gold Nanoclusters for Enhanced Chemodynamic Therapy via Amplification of Oxidative Stress

Wenying Mi, Mingkun Jin, Xiaoting Yang, Wanyao Chen, Kaijie Zhang, Na Shao

Abstract Chemodynamic therapy (CDT), which employs •OH generated by Fenton-type reactions to trigger cancer cell death, has received much attention in recent years. However, CDT efficacy is restricted by insufficient H2O2 levels and reactive oxygen species (ROS) consumption by antioxidants in tumor cells. Amplification of intracellular oxidative stress is an effective strategy for enhancing CDT efficiency. In this study, chitosan (CS)-protected iron peroxide nanoclusters (CS@FeNCs) were prepared via the reaction of …
