Abstract We discuss the case of a young girl presented with acute abdomen with palpable abdominal mass which was later diagnosed with trichobezoar. The patient underwent jejunoileal resection and it was removed. Postoperative psychiatric evaluation revealed anxiety and compulsive hair ingestion and treated with fluoxetine and supportive counseling showing a very good clinical response.
