Abstract The usefulness of automated speech and language markers to monitor or predict psychotic symptoms depends on their ability to detect changes in mental state. To date, research linking psychosis and Natural Language Processing (NLP) has been conducted almost exclusively using cross-sectional experimental designs, limiting insight into how intraindividual speech changes relate to symptoms and functioning. Therefore, here we examined the speech of 95 individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia ( n = 70) or schizo …

Digital health innovations—especially artificial intelligence (AI) and commercially available activity monitors (CAMs)—offer transformative opportunities for personalised rehabilitation following lung cancer treatment. Survivors often experience impaired physical function, fatigue, and psychological distress, and while walking is a preferred and accessible rehabilitation modality, patients frequently require structured feedback and motivation. This extended abstract synthesises findings from a qualitative, patient …

Radiation-free treatment for early-stage classic Hodgkin lymphoma (eHL) has been shown to be less effective than standard combined-modality treatment (CMT; chemotherapy plus involved-node radiotherapy (INRT)), which achieves long-term disease control of 94–95%. Approximately 70% of patients can be cured with chemotherapy alone, whereas about 5% fail CMT. Identifying patients who can safely receive chemotherapy alone and those requiring intensified CMT could enable a risk-adapted treatment strategy. The RAFTING tria …

In addition, the study sought to identify latent subgroups of uncertainty in illness and to compare differences across these subgroups. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted from August 2024 to April 2025. Patients with …
Anaesthesiology Intensive Therapy
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and human herpesvirus-6 (HHV-6) infections typically follow a benign course in immunocompetent individuals. However, critically ill patients may develop profound immune dysregulation associated with sepsis, trauma, prolonged mechanical ventilation, or immunomodulatory therapy, which may predispose them to reactivation of latent viruses. A growing body of evidence suggests that CMV reactivation in immunocompetent, critically ill patients is associated with adverse clinical outcomes, including p …
Circulation: Heart Failure
Cardiovascular disease remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality, with heart failure representing the common and often irreversible end stage, for which current therapies are largely palliative rather than restorative. Cardiac microcurrent therapy delivers a low-intensity, nondepolarizing direct current across the myocardium and has been proposed to modulate fibrosis, inflammation, and remodeling in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. In Cardiac Microcurrent I (New York Heart Association III nonisc …

Abstract: Surgical removal of the eye, or enucleation, is a life-altering procedure indicated in cases of trauma, malignancy, or intractable ocular disease. Given that postoperative recovery involves both significant physical and psychological adjustment, painted ocular conformers placed immediately after surgery play a crucial role in holistic healing while preserving socket anatomy. Herein, we explore the benefits, challenges, and clinical management of temporary painted ocular conformers following enucleation, a …

Lymphoma is a malignant tumor originating from the lymphohematopoietic system. As lymphocytes are vital components of the immune system, their malignant transformation closely links lymphoma development to immune dysregulation. Recent studies suggest that combining ascorbic acid with anti-PD-1 may have significant anti-tumor potential. In this study, we developed a mathematical model to quantitatively characterize tumorimmune interactions and evaluate the therapeutic effect of this combination in lymphoma treatment …

As structural transformation draws the sons of the rural global South out of their parents’ livelihoods, marine capture fishing presents an especially demanding case: it exhibits some of the strongest occupational inheritance on record, and in the Philippines, where 93% of fishers work in family-based operations, the boat, the household, and the livelihood are one. Using 1.04 million co-resident father–son pairs from three Philippine censuses, with every measurement repeated for farmers’ sons, we document the disso …
