Abstract We consider a framework which brings together losses arising from rent-dissipation and the workhorse model of law enforcement. Governmental actors engage in a contest to share the proceeds from the enforcement of the law through monetary fines, which leads to rent-dissipation. Post-prescription review of antibiotics for pediatric urinary tract infection is an effective ambulatory antibiotic stewardship strategy

Abstract Pharmacist-led review of antibiotic courses post-prescription for possible urinary tract infections (UTI) in ambulatory pediatric patients was associated with increased antibiotic changes for antibiotic resistant infections, increased antibiotic discontinuations for negative cultures, and decreased 30-day UTI admissions. Notable process changes included standardizing susceptibility interpretation and creating an antibiotic discontinuation process.
